Coada dubla, lunga, inotatoare dorsala, inotatoare anala dubla, numai culoare neagra (deobicei mata), ochi telescopici. Varietatea standard are cei 2 lobi ai cozii triunghiulari. Pot atinge dimensiuni de 20-25cm, fiind unii dintre cei mai mari carasi. Deobicei este portocaliu - de unde si denumirea de Oranda, dar pot fi si albi cu excrescenta de pe cap rosie, negri sau combinatii. La fel ca si la "coada de voal" cei mai apreciati sunt oranda cu cei 2 lobi ai cozii in forma de triunghi. Nu se recomanda temperaturi mai mici de 18 grade, iar la 15 grade mor. Au o rezistenta mai scazuta la boli, in special la cele cauzate de bacterii. Pot atinge dimensiuni de 17-20cm.
